...And beyond.

Journal Entry: Fri Oct 16, 2009, 4:48 PM
Holy crap, have I not updated this thing in over three weeks? o_O God, I haven't even gotten around to replying to comments or writing new Mini-DDs in god knows when...Well, time to start remedying that. For now, here's a list of notable stuff that's happened to me since last time, in chronological order as best as I can remember...

- Headed out to Pat & Willy's Cantina with aunt & extended family for birthday dinner. Man, do I love tex-mex food...Even though my chicken toggles were cajun seasoned, & I don't know if any of it was really tex or mex. Meh, still awesome.

- Saw Zombieland with dad. Awesome, awesome movie. Woody Harrelson, you & Tallahassee have officially made it on my list of Best Big Screen Badasses. Bravo, sir, bravo.

- In the student union I discover a notice advertising a chairty event the next day: For five dollars, you can have 30 seconds to smash an SUV. I forget what the charity was for, though, largely because the only thought crossing my mind then Dude, you get to f***ing SMASH A CAR UP! DO IT!!

- Went to my physics lab. Feeling confident on weekly quiz, & starting to show confidence in a nice little experiment with kind & competent partners.

- Steps towards the end, one of said lab partners suffers a seizure. His face twitches, he goes down, I becomed shocked & kind of afraid. For several minutes I hold down his arms until the ambulance comes, all while thinking "Oh my god, oh my god, will he be okay? Is this what my seizures really look like? Could this happen to me in public?"

- Arrived home late, pretty frazzled, but feeling better knowing my partner's gonna be okay.

- Participate in charity car smash. It went okay, I suppose, but in retrospect I should've followed my instincts & gone with the sledgehammer instead of the crowbar. Kind of thought I could do some "ripping" damage, but it turns out I was wrong. Eh, at least I still got the rear lights.

- Went to first day of my new part-time job at the campus library. It's a nice job, save for the part where I had to catalog some old books. The annoying part is that they're kept in an air-conditioned room. Air conditioning. In October. Needless to say, I learned my lesson about the importance of sweaters.

- I discover Marge Simpson will be posing for Playboy. Granted, she won't be nude, but...Wow. Creepy. I mean, is this the best thing they could think of to help promote 20 years of The Simpsons? And why Marge Simpson, the innocent & pure cartoon wife? Why not any of Seth McFarlane's three MILFs with the raunchier tastes? And Marge as Playboy's first cartoon star? Really? You guys never thought about Jessica Rabbit, not even once? Idiots...

- Having gotten frustrated & slightly bored with it, I trade in Scribblenauts for Professor Layton and the Diabolical Box.

- Saw Zombieland. Again. Still awesome. Also, anyone think Legion looks pretty cool as well? Thought the trailer was pretty neat.

- Get home from movies, pop in the new Layton game.

- The next 24 hours are kind of a blur. All I remember are puzzles...Lots & lots of puzzles...There was a break for some new episodes of The Venture Bros., ATHF, American Dad! & the like, & maybe breaks for food, but the rest is all puzzles & british accents...And a revelation that I'm still questioning.

- Thanksgiving. Turkey time!

- Pick up Brütal Legend on Tuesday, though due to my schedule, I sadly won't be able to play it until Thursday.

- Notice that the cafeteria is offering pierogis today, which I've never tried before. Holy crap, are they good! Damn, I've been missing out on a treat...

- Begin playing Brütal Legend. Surprisingly not as addictive as I thought it would be, but still damn awesome.

- Two weeks after my last journal entry, I think "Holy s***, have I killed a lot of productivity. I haven't even gotten around to any new Mini-DDs in nearly two weeks." And thus I buckle down & get back to them!

...Riiight after this Modern Family episode I DVRed.

9/30...

Journal Entry: Sun Sep 27, 2009, 6:55 PM
Well, in just over 2 days I turn 25...Yet I don't seem to be that excited about it. Maybe it's the fact that I don't have any real plans for it yet...Or maybe that due to my mom's confusions with the Internet, she can't get me my #1 present - [link] - Until after the big day...Or maybe it's because I have a midterm to take that morning (it was either then or the after, & better to get it over with birthday morning than to spend my whole birthday studying).

Speaking of which, yeah, that's kind of why I haven't updated my Mini-DDs recently...So expect them tomorrow or Tuesday instead (with the Birthday Special afterwards). Sorry about that...^^; And for not updating this journal in weeks as well...God, I really do need some more effin' get-up-and-go!

Anyhow, other random stuff I've noticed the past couple of weeks...

- That new NBC show Community actually has a character with Asperger's Syndrome?? Dang...O_O First time I've actually meant "I can totally relate to them" when talking about a TV character...

- I really don't know what the hell a "Clicker" is, but apparently my university requires I pay $67 for one. Between this & the hundreds spent on books, all I can say is that I better at least get a lot of $$$ towards travel on the credit card...

- Canker sores twice in three weeks?? F***...Anyone know any good remedies? Mouthwash & salt water work okay, but anyone know anything better?

- Well, Scribblenauts, I am really having a love/hate relationship with you...Love because of your unique concept, & hate because of the lousy control & gaps in logic.

- Finally, I know I'm late on this, but Kanye, you're a moron, MTV, you're a bunch of bastards for obviously staging the whole thing, American public, you're idiots for blowing this whole thing out of control, & Taylor & Beyonce, neither of you even deserved an award for those videos to begin with. So there. =P

Gaming Update

Journal Entry: Sun Sep 6, 2009, 5:46 PM
Guitar Hero 5 - Beaten every song on Medium. Great game, but having to beat "challenges" to unlock new accessories instead of just using the old system of earning money from gigs & just buying the stuff can be annoying...Especially when you're lacking the drums & can't do those challenges. =( Ah well, still an awesome game with a cool setlist...& a nice amount of difficulty (good luck on Jeff Beck)!

Batman: Arkham Asylum - Story mode has been thoroughly conquered, with the Joker defeated & all riddles found. That ending was a tiny bit lacking as some have said, but those final battles...Man, what a doozy...A glorious, glorious doozy...XD

'Splosion Man - Have yet to get through most of it, largely because, well, I was busy with the above.

Tales of Monkey Island Chapter - Have yet to even download & install it because once again, see above.

The Path, Fat Princess, Professor Layton and The Diabolical Box, & the Virtual Console release of Pulseman - Um, I have yet to even buy those. Gaming world, are you going to leave me broke by he end of this year?

Brütal Legend - ...I'l take that as a yes. =P

TOKEN ENTRY

Journal Entry: Thu Sep 3, 2009, 6:47 PM
Okay, I know I'm late in commenting on this, but...Disney buying Marvel.

My god.

Do you people realize what horrors this will lead to?? The endless, unimaginative barrage of insanity we shall get? Do you know what this all means?? o_O

This means...

...That for at least one entire week, DA will constantly be assaulted with nothing but endless drawings of Disney characters dressed up as Marvel characters (or vice versa). The unimaginative horror...I mean, constantly being told the same joke over & over? Sweet Jesus, it's April Fool's 2008 all over again. XD

...Oh, my real feelings about the Disney/Marvel deal? Meh. I'll wait for something important in this to actually happen before I pass judgement.

Also, I was hit with this little surprise just a couple of hours ago:

And that, people, is just one reason why *Kaaziel effin' rocks. Seriously, go watch her. Now. ^_^

Aliens vs. Nazis vs. Batman vs. Chicken

Journal Entry: Sun Aug 30, 2009, 4:51 PM
And know, because I know of no other way to set these up, here are some good things/dad things I've encountered in the past while...

Good

- District 9 & Inglorious Basterds. Oh lordy, did the Summer movie season save the best for last! I saw them in a little double feature last week, & damn...It's kind of hard for me to say something great about these films that hasn't been said already. D9 had a some unique presentation, kickass alien designs, several unique concepts & characters you really cared about...And IB had a lot of suspense, a gloriously unique & twisted take on history, Cristoph Waltz's awesome performance, & that one awesome scene in the theater which introduced to me to an awesome David Bowie tune that shall now rank among my top faves. So yeah, awesome times to be had at the movies. ^_^

- Batman: Arkham Asylum. I was actually just going to rent this game for starters, but then the clerk at EB Games said they had this promotion: Pre-order the game, & as long as you pick it up on the day of release, you get $30 off. One day only, he said. Needless to say, since it was almost half off & garnering some of the year's best reviews, it was impossible to resist. Needless to say, it's been my current addiction at the time, excelling in everything from combat to story to voice acting (Mark Hamill FTW!!), with a grand amount of variety, a genuinely chilling atmosphere, & several moments that really feel straight out of the comic books. Several critics have noted it as this year's BioShock, & I definitely have to agree!

- Getting an extra week of part-time work. Nothing special, I'm just really glad I'm earning some more money. =P

- The loads of kickass & funny daily lists over at Topless Robot ([link]), ensuring that my productivity during said work will be slowed down considerably. XD Also reminds me that I have to get off my ass & write those lists I had my own ideas for...

Bad

- Walking into a bookstore & being a bit overwhelmed by several authors trying to cash in on the 40th anniversary of Woodstock everyone in the media is fixated on for now. Maybe it's just because I'm not a real fan of '60s music, but I am just a little bit sick of this (& from what some experts have wrote, I heard it wasn't even that amazing a concert to begin with).

- KFC's Double Down: [link] Good lord, I think I've actually felt heart pains just looking at it. I mean, I'm a fan of fast food just as much as the next guy, but...Wow. So it's actually come to this. Didn't they just invent this as a joke on 30 Rock? Saddest of all: I may actually be tempted to try it, if it wasn't for the fact that swiss cheese makes me queasy.

- Speaking of which, I think I've had some odd appetite problems recently...Like I have sudden stomach pains where it just feels completely empty or something...Kind of afraid it's like this one disease I saw on CSI where you always feel constantly hungry & empty, no matter how much you eat. o_O

- The lack of anything really new on Teletoon's upcoming schedule, with the only new thing they're announcing being the addition of King of The Hill...Which already airs seven days a week on another network here, & has been cancelled anyway. And you thought the Cartoon Network down south was creatively bankrupt...F*** you, CN Real...>_<

Well, that'd be all for now. I have more asylum inmates to beat up...And I need to do it fast,as my next addiction - Guitar Hero 5 - Comes out Tuesday. XD
