How NOT to quit an account:
[link]Ah, Sonic fan artists. Some of DA's most talented, but also those with some of the most fragile psyches.

Man, does this happen too often on DA. It's one thing to feel stuck in a rut, & to want to experiment & want to draw something new & original. I fully sympathize with that. But
why do artists like these think that they need to make a new account just to get a bit of a fresh start? Why not just keep going & doing something new? Afraid your fans will get angry? Because if they do, they're so not your fans.
Also, deleting your entire gallery once you move: F***ING ANNOYING. That's basically just giving a big middle finger to everyone who's supported you over the years & loved all the kickass artwork you made. I know you're afraid of theft as well, but geez, at least think about a few watermarks first. >_<
But the worst part of this is that Winona here takes it one step further by actually
disowning her character Venus (
[link] ), a simple, fun, & really cute & lovable creation that I'd definitely feel proud to have thought up. And she even asks people to delete all fan art of her? Damn, that is just cruel.

I mean, imagine if musicians acted like this. Your favorite band either gets tired of their current sound or loses a member, & what happens? They destroy all their master tracks, recall all their albums, demand no one play their songs anymore, etc., all that just because they wanted to try something new.
So, *
WinonaHeart (or whatever name her new account has, consider yourself one of the poorest examples of how to deal with art block. Madam, the pointy finger of shame shall forever be aimed straight towards you. >:[

I totally agree. I watched her because I liked her art, her character, and basically her personality.
But then she posted that, and I was just like.. WTF?
Seriously. People these days confuse me.

"Did you see his arms? They were like legs!"
I was on the edge of doing this myself two years ago :3 don't all cheer at once....
Seriously though, I don't see the need to do this, Its a hassle, and chances are folks don't feel like watching another account, we are in that age where a simple click or some minor little things like oh... effort, are a big thing people to consider, really do people actually think that one is going to constantly click this or that to keep watch of someone's account? (this is the reason why i make my comic in vertical format so nobody has to scan the page cus it takes "effort" I'm not kidding you I met folks who wont even bother with anything that requires work, there are folks that effing' lazy... so go figure.)
The thing is I rather stay in one place even if I moved onto more original things... I got my old art to look back on within the same account and I can see how far I've come in my development as an artist, and that's an important thing... why would I run away from that?
This is just me personally though, I know folks love a fresh start, but you also risk alienating others that way...

I'm totally normal, it is all the other people that is crazy.. @u@
That is so random, that she'd just leave like that.
And I agree, it's stupid to just leave and delete everything.
If she wanted to do more original stuff she shoulda stayed on her own account, she has so many fans, it's not like they would REALLY mind that she's pretty much done with fanart.
</sad face>
i cant believe they'd disown a character cause you feel they arent original now... its kind of like the creators of sonic the hedgehog going DAMN so many fan characters we must get rid of him now, hes not original and unique.
i have some characters that i know arent exactly unique or special, but i created them and theyre sort of a part of what i do, so id not disown any of them, just cause theyre not fabulously obscure.
i dunno why people go so dramatic over things like this XD but ah well.

... and that's why I'm not allowed to wear hats anymore.
I must say that I changed my account some time ago too and deleted my art, I was very "unstable" in these days... but after that I felt like you say "what Iam doing?" I back to may main account again, but I never uploaed my ancient pics since most of them were fanarts.
(btw sorry for my crappy english)
I have no idea who that chick is, but judging by that journal, she needs a good kick in the ass. :/ Deleting your art and leaving is one thing, but taking off for no apparent reason and commanding others to delete the fan art they made for you? Ugh.
And I've never heard of somebody just disowning a character like that--all of mine eventually just.... die without me really being aware of it. And then I remember them like a year later and go all, lol, why don't I draw him anymore?
